I am Darque Aalanna Grifynn, more often known by my Battle Name, The Dragon, and I am a member of the Warrior Brotherhood, the most elite fighting force in all of Kadoor. I am the youngest ever to hold the rank of Second to the Battle Commander. The Warriors of the Dragon Clan have kept the peace since the Last Holocaust, which devastation was wrought by an evil Dragon known as The Black. All Races were affected, both Magic Bearing and Mankind and those who did not die outright suffered great hardships. Some were forced to Retreat 'til the world had healed enough to support their dwindling numbers. Having the shortest lifespan, Mankind has lost their memories of the other Races and relative peace has reigned for so long the Evil One was all but forgotten even by the Magic Bearers themselves. Now the Hoard is once again gaining strength and we have uncovered disturbing evidence The Black may have secured an alliance with the King and his Forces. To help in our efforts the Highland Dragons came out of seclusion to bring forth their most ancient Magic. This we used to create the LifeBond ‘tween Warrior and Dragon and together we defend our people. But we are greatly outnumbered and there are few willing to openly oppose the King. With so many living in blissful ignorance of the return of The Black, we must convince them to join the Resistance. We did not seek this War, ‘twas thrust upon us, but failure is not an option. This time, ‘twill be our total annihilation.
Darque Aalanna Grifynn, known as the Dragon, is now the Battle Commander of the Dragon Clan, home of the Warrior Brotherhood. At just eighteen winters, she ranks the most elite fighting force in all Kadoor. Taking her field promotion when her father was forced Past the Veil afore her eyes, she and her LifeBond partner and lifemate, Gunnarr the Mighty Blue, High Prince of the Highland Dragons, lead her Warriors to victory against the Hoard in the Battle for the Dragon Clan, the most horrific since the Last Holocaust. With few left to start o'er, she must embrace her destiny, for the Warriors are the last hope against the Evil One.
Known as the Triad Prophesies, Corbyn the Fay sought their realization throughout the ages. The Return of the Dragon, the Return of the True King, and the Death of Life.
Darque the Dragon, has returned. 'And there will be a girl child born to the Race of Man, of Dragon Blood and Dragon Seed, with flaming red hair and piercing blue eyes, who will take up the Sword and lead the Races from near extinction to a New Beginning.'
Gabriel, born and raised in obscurity, will become the most hunted man in all Kadoor.
'And through the Warriors of the Dragon Clan, the True King shall return to claim his rightful throne.'
Synahmarr, the long missing niece of the Last Dragon Matriarch, is alive! 'As a Phoenix rises from the ashes, so must the lost one rise to avert the death of life.'
From near thirty winters past, through the Battle for the Dragon Clan and beyond, a convergence is rushing toward the mysterious Keep of St Swiftyn's. With the Fates hounding their every move, can Darque rebuild the Brotherhood, find the True King, and prevent the death of life? Against incredible odds, does she have time?
In Legend Song they’d praise our stand,
tell how we fought the End of Man.
Come with me now and you will hear
of how the Evil One drew near.
Too long the warnings were ignored.
With just a few left to stop the Hoard,
know ‘tis the truth that you will learn,
when these pages you do turn.
‘Twas a time of war. The Black had returned, his despicable Hoard gaining power with astonishing ease amongst those unfamiliar with their own history. Humans and the Magic bearing Races had drifted apart since the Last Holocaust, and many chose ignorance o’er facing the truth that the Evil One was rising once more. ‘Twas no less so than with Lord Rohar, the royal leader of the Sprite Nation, upon the Island of Dreams.
While Darque and the Dragon Clan were entering the Black War, the 7th Egg mysteriously disappeared from the island, along with the Heir Apparent of the Sprite Nation, Kevon. The boy had been poisoned by the Sorcerer’s Spell Sword and the only one who could heal him was Myrrdin’s sister, Persephone. But she, along with the entire Wyrdritch, homeland of the Elves, disappeared at the time of the Last Holocaust. Did she yet live?
Framed for their abductions, ‘twas up to Caleichante, Captain of the Sprite Elite Guard to make the treacherous journey ‘cross Kadoor with the two Princes, chased by her own Guard and the Hoard, to find the Wyrdritch and Persephone afore ‘twas too late. This was a race with more than one life to lose, a mission she could not afford to fail, for if Kevon died, if the Egg landed in Hoard hands, all the Races would once again be at war with each other. ‘Twould be nowhere safe on all Kadoor.
Interpret correctly and ensure fulfillment.
Their lives are forfeit if she fails.
“The next time we see Winter’s Edge,
the next time we stand upon this ledge…
‘twill be our last.
And I know without a single doubt,
‘tis a truth that I could safely shout…
‘twill come too fast.”
When Storrm, sister of the Battle Commander and Second in Command of the Dragon Clan, finds herself and her Dragon partner, Mystynn the Green, within the Void separating one side of the Veil from the other, she knows not how they’d gotten there. Suspecting Mystynn of having Blocked her memories of the past winter, she refuses to budge, demanding to know what happened or to return to the fight where they were killed, to try to survive using the Magical Healing they Share.
But Mystynn made a promise and though traveling through the Void takes place in the blink of an eye for those left behind, time has no meaning within, so he is duty-bound to take the time to prove to her that they cannot return afore he can get her to move on Past the Veil. Even fearing she will come to hate him when she learns the truth, he Shares his Memories and they embark on a journey of discovery that begins a full fifty winters afore the Battle for the Dragon Clan.
Many secrets unfold in their travels along the streamline of Memory and Storrm is made privy to astonishing new intel. But once she does learn the truth of the past winter’s events, she is faced with the most painful decision of her short span of days. Should they return to the battle that forced them to the Void? Or should they continue through to the Beyond?
When Battle Commander Grifynn found the four matching boot blades in the mysteriously abandoned Keep of St Swiftyn's, he was sure of only one thing.
They were exquisitely crafted. When his daughter took the LifeBond with her soon-to-be lifemate, General Gunnarr the Mighty Blue, High Prince of the Highland Dragons, he thought they were the perfect gift. Now Darque Aalanna Grifynn is Battle Commander of the Dragon Clan, the Resistance Armed Forces, and the LifeBond Teams. With the support of the cursed spirits of the Rashei of St Swiftyn's she makes a shocking discovery.
The boot blades were in fact the Magically altered Fangs of Solvyngarr, Gunnarr's grandfather, LifeBond partner and lifemate of her ancestor, Darque Abriya D'Rienne. Ripped from his jaws by his own hand, the four Fangs were to be Abriya's lifeline to draw Sol out of the Void after a most daring and desperate bid to escape the clutches of the Hoard during one of the final battles of the War of Chaos. But following their successful escape came Abriya's failure to guide her lifemate back to her, for unbeknownst to either, Solvyngarr was not in the Void. Lost in a strange cosmic wilderness, even after Abriya had Passed the Veil they were doomed to an eternity apart.
Nevertheless, 'twas Legend that the Fangs had more than one function: to reunite Abriya and Sol and allow the Battle Commander to open the Book of the Conqueror which would then release the mystic Rashei from their curse, giving the Resistance a new and most powerful ally against the Black and his evil Hoard.
With but one of the Fangs still in her possession not only must Darque find and retrieve those lost since the war began, she must then discover a way to perform the ceremony to draw forth the Mighty Solvyngarr to join Abriya in the Beyond at last. Once the partners are together again, the powerful Fangs would return to the possession of the Battle Commander to ensure the success of the Resistance and her prophesy of their redemption. Or would they?
